ABOUT
Annika Weertz is an artist and photograoher based in Germany working for national and international clients in the fields of editorial, fashion, reportage, product and portrait photography. Her view of life, its people and things is candid and fearless. Neither romanticised nor distorted. She does not force her motifs into any particular aesthetic, but rather allows them to be and speak for themselves in all their complexity, subtlety, contradictions and banality. Her images are intense and intimate, allowing the viewer to sense the connection and trust between the photographer and the people she depicts.
Annika breaks with standards and the narrow, standardised view that Western societies have cultivated in the visual age. She confronts the audience with this one-sided world view. As a result, her images have a liberating and unsettling effect that lingers long after viewing.
Commercial clients appreciate her artistic approach and her unadulterated, bold and emotional expression. She develops and produces visual languages, moving images and creative concepts for brands and labels. Her autobiographical projects have been exhibited in Germany, the UK and the US.
